2010: Ice the Vice

Breathe the fresh air, float on the water, sit by the fire, and fly above the trees! Join us as we explore why we are driven by the 5 vices and how Gurbani is the solution. As we discuss the spiritual significance of the escaping the five vices, come back for another exhilarating year at a camp site that embraces Mother Nature's finest, including a newly renovated rock climbing wall, hiking, canoeing, archery and swinging on the tallest giant swing in the Pacific Northwest! Don't miss out on a wonderful opportunity to be around a group of highly motivated Sikhs in an awe-inspiring setting. Tree hugging is optional.

5 Vices Workshops

Harinder Singh, Satwinder Singh, and Preetinder Kaur from the Sikh Research Institute will facilitate three sessions on 5 vikars. Our approach will be tri-fold: directives from Guru Granth Sahib (bani), historical precedents form the lives of the Gurus (tavarikh), how is all this relevant to our lifestyle (rahit). All session will explore the aforesaidgurmat elements along with activities. Session one will explore the five from varying religious and psychological perspectives. What are they: vices, traits, or something else? Session two will delve into how the five affect us on the individual level. Session three will explore how the five enter and mold the collective psyche and behavior. The goal is to learn the Sikhi way (What, Why, When, Where & How) to punch the panch (vikars) to become panch (supreme).
